How Chiswick youngsters are being inspir
[Music]
So, the location is a special location.
The amount of people during this project
that have walked by and said, "We've
lived here for 10 years, 20 years, and
never knew this place existed." My
name's Andrew Lee. I'm the head of the
facility and sporting development at
Chisit Rugby, and we started our journey
two years ago.
Let's go.
>> The under 12 girls, we have a nucleus of
15 16 girls. It sounds very very little,
but in years gone by at at that age
group level, we'd have three or four.
>> I joined quite recently. I'd say about a
year ago now. I wanted to play rugby
because my friend from school joined and
I think it's a really good opportunity
to make new friends as well. Yeah, it
just makes me feel happy to be out and
with my friends.
>> I think women's rugby getting more
support is really good because everyone
should be treated fairly.
>> I grew up around rugby, so I never
really thought it was a boy sport.
You're in the environment where you're
with friends who are enjoying the same
sport as you. So, you're talking and
playing with a rugby ball instead of
sitting there on social media.
>> The red roses always show courage and
that's just why I like them. Um, one of
my new favorites is Marley Parker cuz
she's a really good um, girl in like
leadership. I find Alex Matthews very
inspirational because she is the
youngest player to join the Red Roses.
>> Um, I like Ellie Kildon cuz she's got a
great step.
>> Our passion is just to get people off
their phones and running around and that
leads to the British Airways social
spaces grant. allowed us to get moving
with our vision. Now,
to anyone thinking of getting into women
and girls rugby, just give it a shot.
But what you'll get out of it is not
just the the game itself. It's the
teamsmanship, the friends, the the hours
of fun together outside of the game as
well.
